| Johnny Ellis grew up in the mountains of Western North Carolina. He started singing in church as a child and was musically influenced by southern style gospel music. He was also influenced by country music on a syndicated radio program called "The Carolina Barn Dance", which originated in his hometown of Spruce Pine, NC. Many of his current songs reflect these influences.
Johnny's God-given talent has enabled him to quickly learn and remember hundreds of country songs. He has honed his smooth rich delivery of a song to a point few artists can achieve. It's artists like Jim Reeves, Eddy Arnold, Gene Watson and Elvis that Johnny has tried to encompass in his style and delivery. |
